This test places your English on the Common European Framework (CEFR) scale, from A1 to C2. Every question has five options, and the wrong ones are deliberately close to the right one. Harder questions carry more weight; when you don’t know an answer, choosing "Not sure" gives you a more accurate result than guessing.

Is this test free?
Yes. It’s completely free - no sign-up and no card details. You see your result the moment you finish.
How is the result calculated?
Each question is weighted by its level: a C2 item is worth six times an A1 item. Missing a few easy questions won’t distort your result, while getting advanced items right moves it up directly.
Why five options?
With four options, guessing gets you a long way. Five options with deliberately close distractors mean your result reflects what you actually know.
How accurate is the result?
The test measures grammar, vocabulary and listening from A1 to C2. It isn’t a formal exam and doesn’t cover speaking or writing, but it’s a strong indicator of where to start.
